There are several passages in the book of songs that reveal the awesome nature of God. Not only is he a good shepherd. Not only is he Yahweh, not only is he true love and mercy, but the Lord is also our protector. He is our shield and our fortress. He is the one who delivers us from the Fowlers snare, he saves us from the deadly pestilence.
Now, as you unwind and enjoy your day, take a moment to praise the Lord. Say a prayer of thanks for his wondrous works, say a prayer of protection so that he may watch over you during the night. And now. Let us pray.
Dear Lord, we thank you for being an awesome God, a God who is our protector. A God who is a healer. A God who is our comfort and redeemer. King Jesus, I thank you for your precious blood, which cleanses me.
Your blood, which lives and has the power to protect, I believe, your word, which says, if I go up to the heavens, you are there. If I make my bed in the depths, you are there. And so I ask you to be with me, Lord, I trust that you will always be with me regardless of the situation I face, regardless of the circumstances I find myself in. Be with me, Lord, I take comfort in your word.
Father, I thank you for this promise that I will lie down and sleep peacefully because I know I am in your arms. I know that I am in your care. I declare that everything from the enemy that lurks in the darkness of the night will be defeated by the shining presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. I rebuke any bad dreams or nightmares in Jesus name.
I rebuke any night terrors in the name of Jesus. I call for angels to surround me. I ask for your presence to cover me completely. May your Holy Spirit be found in my home, may the presence of the Holy Spirit be so strong in my home and in my room.
I confess, you, Lord Jesus, to be king. I believe you died and rose again for me so that my sins may be forgiven. And although I did not deserve such a love, although I do not deserve such love. I am still grateful. I thank you for giving me such amazing love.
And I believe in your word, which says in Psalm 91, verse one to two. Whoever dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say if the Lord he is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. Holy Spirit, help me to always dwell in the shelter of the most high. Help me, Holy Spirit, to rest in the shadow of the Almighty, may I be familiar with God’s presence always. May it be with me, around me and in me at all times.
I bless your precious name. I thank you for being a great and awesome God, thank you for being faithful and true to your word. May your Holy Spirit be made known to us as we end our day. Our hearts are filled with gratitude. As we look to you, the almighty God, for peaceful sleep and peaceful rest. Glory be to your name, I thank you for hearing this prayer. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray, amen.
